You may choose not to believe me, but I really don’t play too many games these days. However, I have come across a couple of biking games in recent days that are worth a look, and I have actually lost an idle half hour playing them.
The best is not a new one - Bike or Die! It is only for PalmOS, as I mentioned yesterday in Bikelinks, but I seriously suggest getting the free PalmOS emulator just so you can play it! The game just looks plain silly, with very comical stickman graphics, but the more you play it, the more you realise there is quite a knack to it, not so different from handling a real bike! (well, er, sort of). And the really cool thing is the community aspect, where you can upload recordings of your “performances” and compete with other players for the top score.
The other game is this one, from Flash Game Codes: (shrunk slightly to fit the site)
It takes a while to load up, and obviously owes something to Bike or Die, but is still good fun and best of all, it’s free!
Only thing is, where did this idea come from that mountain biking is all about throwing yourself off cliffs?! I am fairly new to mountain-biking, but to me the activity implies riding your bike in the mountains. Why does it of necessity mean risking life and limb? Sigh, I’ve got so much to learn…!
