I finally get out onto the main road, realising that I had exited at exactly the same point as we had on Day 6 of our Serbia Bike Trek, though I must confess I failed to recognise most of the route, or the point at which I joined it up in the hills.

All that remained was to cycle another 23 km round on tarmac back to the hotel (going cross-country was out of the question). My progress was impeded by the complete lack of feeling in my frozen, wet feet, and my near-exhaustion at having dragged, carried, pushed and pulled my bike through nearly 15km of deep snow.
